Comparison of fertilisation, eyeing, hatching and survival rate of Abant Trout (Salmo trutta abanticus T., 1954) and Rainbow Trout eggs (Oncorhynchus mykiss W., 1792).
Abstract
In this study, fertilisation, eyeing, hatching and survival rate of Abant and Rainbow Trout were compared with eachother. Wild Abant Trout broodstocks obtained in Abant Lake and Cultured Rainbow Trout broodstocks obtained in Gölköy Fish Production Center were used. The diameter and wet weight of Abant and Rainbow Trout eggs has been found as 5.01±0.16 mm, 80.13±0.78 mg and 5.06±0.18 mm, 81.22±0.86 mg in trial I, 5.20±0.19 mm, 84.80±1.42 mg, 5.10±0.29 mm and 110.13±0.17 mg in trial II respectively. In both trial I and II, and 46.5% of the fertilised eggs of Abant Trout was hatched after 52 days (439 daydegree) and 47 days (442 day-degree) and 76.0; 72.0% of the fertilised eggs of Rainbow Trout was hatched after 31 days (295 day-degree) and 30 days (292 day-degree) respectively. In conclusion, while the hatching rate of fertilised eggs of Abant Trout in trial I was higher than Rainbow Trout in trial I and II, the hatching rate of fertilised eggs of Abant Trout in trial II was the lowest but eyeing, hatching and survival period of fertilised eggs of Abant Trout was longer than Rainbow Trout as expected.
