Selectivity of commercial and alternative codends for Bogue (Boops boops) and Common sole (Solea solea) in Northeastern Mediterranean

Öz

The present study compares size selectivity of commercially used hand-woven slack knotted codend and three different alternative (40 mm square mesh, 44 mm and 50 mm diamond mesh) machine woven codends for bogue (Boops boops) and common sole (Solea solea). Hauls were conducted using covered codend method between 10 October and 16 December 2011 in Mersin Bay. Results show that alternative machine woven codends are selective enough for bogue however, tested four codends are not sufficient in releasing individuals under legal size for common sole.

Kuzeydoğu Akdeniz’de Kupes (Boops boops) ve Dil balığı (Solea solea) için ticari ve alternatif torbaların seçiciliği

Öz

Bu çalışmada ticari el örmesi ve gevşek düğümlü torba ile üç farklı alternatif fabrikasyon torbaların (40 mm karegöz, 44 mm ve 50 mm baklava gözlü) boy seçicilikleri kupes (Boops boops) ve dil balığı (Solea solea) için karşılaştırılmıştır. Çekimler Mersin Körfezi’nde 10 Ocak - 16 Aralık 2011 tarihleri arasında örtü torba yöntemi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sonuçlar alternatif fabrikasyon torbaların kupes için yeterli seçiciliğe sahip olduğunu bununla beraber dil balığı için test edilen 4 torbanın da yasal boyun altındaki bireyleri kaçırmada yetersiz kaldığını göstermektedir.
