First record of Spongilla lacustris (Porifera: Demospongiae) from the Eastern Black Sea (Uzungöl Lake, Trabzon)
Abstract
In order to determine the benthic macro-invertebrate fauna of Uzungöl Lake (Trabzon), colonies of the freshwater sponge (Spongilla lacustris L., 1759) were observed during the field study. The sponge colonies were sampled by standard macrophyte sampling equipment (rake) from the bottom of the lake (2 meters depth). This record is the first one of the species for Uzungöl Lake and for the Eastern Black Sea Region.
