Abstract
Acartia grani is reported for the first time in the seas of Turkey. This species, appeared in the period of September 1998 in Izmir Bay, was represented by very small proportions in Copepoda. This coastal form showed a distribution together with and similar to Acartia clausi and Acartia latisetosa which were common in the study area, concentrating in the polluted environments, especially in the harbour zone, while it was in very small number in the clearer regions. However, it was found in low quantities and its contribution to the Acartia population was at very small rate. The two other Acartia species were found to be dominant in the polluted regions. Some morphometric measurements of A. grani specimens were also given. The maximum total lenghts were 1138.5 µm for females and 1064.3 µm for males. A. grani may be a recently introduced species in the area. Any record has been encountered concerning the species in the Aegean Sea and in the Black Sea as well.

Acartia grani, Türkiye denizlerinde ilk kez kaydedilmiştir. İzmir Körfezi’nde Eylül, 1998 döneminde rastlanan bu tür, Copepoda içersinde çok küçük oranlarda temsil edilmiştir. Bu kıyısal form, bölgemizde yaygın olarak bulunan Acartia clausi ve Acartia latisetosa ile bir arada ve benzer bir dağılım göstermiş, daha temiz bölgelerde çok az sayıda bulunurken kirli ortamlarda, özellikle liman bölgesinde, artış göstermiştir. Bununla birlikte, düşük miktarlarda bulunmuş ve Acartia populasyonuna katkısı çok önemsiz düzeyde olmuştur. Diğer iki Acartia türü, kirli bölgelerde dominant olarak bulunmuştur. A. grani bireylerinin bazı morfometrik ölçümleri de verilmiştir. Maksimum total boy dişilerde 1138.5 µm, erkeklerde 1064.3 µm bulunmuştur. A. grani bölgeye son zamanlarda girmiş bir tür olabilir. Bu tür ile ilgili Ege Denizi ve Karadeniz’de de bir kayda rastlanmamıştır.
