Investigation of Heavy Metal Levels (Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr, Fe) in Hediste diversicolor and in their Habitat Sediment Collected from Homa Lagoon (İzmir Bay) between 2002-2004.

Year 2009, Volume: 26 Issue: 3, 179 - 185, 01.09.2009

Abstract

The present study was conducted at Homa Lagoon - the only lagoon of the bay in which fishing activities are performed although it is located within the borders of Izmır Bird Paradise - with the aim to determine the concentrations of several heavy metals (cadmium, copper, lead, zinc, chrome and iron) in the polychaete Hediste diversicolor (Müller, 1776) and their habitat sediment. Metal concentrations of H. diversicolor was detected to reveal variation during the period of 2 years between Autumn 2002 and Summer 2004. The order of metal concentrations in H. diversicolor was found to be as CdCdCu in the sediment.

Abstract

İzmir Kuş Cenneti sınırları içersinde yer almasına karşın körfezde aktif halde su ürünleri avcılığının yapıldığı tek dalyan olan Homa Dalyanı’nda yürütülen bu çalışma, poliketlerden Hediste diversicolor (Müller, 1776) ile bunların yaşadığı sedimentteki bazı ağır metallerin (Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr ve Fe) konsantrasyonlarını belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sonbahar 2002-Yaz 2004 arasındaki 2 yıllık dönemde, H. diversicolor bireylerindeki metal konsantrasyonlarının zaman içinde değişkenlik gösterdiği saptanmıştır. H. diversicolor’da birikim gösteren metal konsatrasyonları arasındaki sıralama Cd
