Aynalı Sazan (Cyprinus carpio L., 1758) Yavru Yeminde Gümüş Balığı (Atherina boyeri Risso, 1810) Unu Kullanımının Karaciğer Histolojisi Üzerine Etkisi

Year 2009, Volume: 26 Issue: 1, 29 - 33, 01.03.2009

Abstract

The effects on using sand smelt (Atherina boyeri Risso, 1810) meal in practical diets for carp fry (Cyprinus carpio L., 1758) on liver histology.

Year 2009, Volume: 26 Issue: 1, 29 - 33, 01.03.2009

Abstract

Sand smelt (Atherina boyeri Risso, 1810) meal (SSM) was tested to replace fish meal (FM) in practical diets for carp fry, Cyprinus carpio L., 1758. Triplicate groups of fish were fed each of five isonitrogenous (38%), isolipidic (10%) and isoenergetic (3750 kcal DE g-1) diets formulated in which SSM replaced 0.0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% of the protein supplied by FM. Twenty five fish fry were placed in each of the aquarium (65 L) and each diet was fed manually to apparent satiation twice daily for three months. At the end of the experiment, there was determined to live weight, condition factor, hepatosomatic index, and visscerosomatic indeks of experimental groups. The results indicate that fish fed SSM up to 75% exhibited better growth values (P<0.05) than those fed the others. At the end of the experiment, there were no significant (P>0.05) differences in the hepatosomatic index (HSI) among groups following inclusion of SSM in fish diet. The findings of the examination of the liver verified that it has been observed normal lipid accumulation in hepatosit cells, bile channels, hepatopancreatic cell groups, partly connective tissue and existence of blood vessels instead of lipid degeneration. Results of the present study appear to indicate that replacement of commercial fish meal with sand smelt meal in diets has no adverse effects on growth and liver histology of carp fry according to the histological data similar with HSI.
