A faunal study of the glacier lakes and rivers on Uludağ (Bursa) Mountain
Abstract
In this study, fauna characteristics of five glacial lakes (Lake Kara, Lake Kilimli, Lake Aynalı, Lake Buzlu and Lake Heybeli) and five rivers (River Güvercinlik, River Deliçay, River Nilüfer, River Kalburt and River Hamamlı) on Uludağ Mountain were investigated between 8 July and 19 August 2003. A Total of 82 species, consisting of 36 zooplankton, 38 benthic invertebrates, 8 vertebrates were determined from the lakes and rivers. Of which, a species of Rotifera, Microcodides hertha was reported new to Turkish fauna.
