A total of 116 and 100 leaf samples of wheat where intensively grown in Samsun and Amasya provinces were collected respectively during the surveys in 2006 and 2007 in order to determine the occurence of Barley yellow dwarf virus-PAV (BYDV-PAV) and Barley yellow dwarf virus-MAV (BYDV-MAV) and tested by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
ELISA tests showed that ten samples were infected with BYDV-PAV (8.6%), six samples with BYDV-MAV (5.1%) and two samples (1.7%) with mixed-infection of BYDV-PAV+MAV in Samsun while four samples were infected with BYDV-PAV (4%), one sample with BYDV-MAV (1%) and four samples (4%) with mixed-infection of BYDV-PAV+MAV in Amasya.
