The aim of this study is to review the literature on the addition of medicinal plants to tissue conditioners in order to benefit from their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties and to provide evidence-based information for a successful treatment. In this study, a literature search was conducted in Medline database via PubMed in order to evaluate the antimicrobial and antifungal properties of plants in dentistry and to examine the results obtained when added to tissue conditioners. As a result of the evaluated articles, it has been determined that the addition of plants to tissue conditioners can be an alternative supportive treatment option in dentistry. However, after all the evaluations, further studies are needed in terms of the long-term success and clinical use of these applications.
