Seasonal Variation in Feeding Habits of Young of The Year Sea Bream, Sparus aurata (Linnaeus, 1758), in Dardanelles

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to determine seasonal variation in feeding habits of young of the year seabream Sparus aurata (Linnaeus, 1758). Stomach contents of 112 with ranging between 20 and 183, collected by beach seine from November 2008 to August 2009, were analyzed. The most preferred prey group was determined as crustacea (%IRI = 95.1), followed by foraminifera (%IRI = 2.4) and annelida (%IRI = 1.03). Seasonal variation of stomach contents were compared and significant differences were found among the seasons (ANOSİM; R = 0.2445, P < 0.05). Spring was the most diverse season in terms of prey species and its quantity.

Genç Çipura, Sparus aurata (Linnaeus, 1758), Balıklarının Mevsimsel Beslenme Alışkanlıkları

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı genç çipura, Sparus aurata (Linnaeus, 1758), bireylerinin mevsimsel beslenme alışkanlıklarının belirlenmesidir. Bu amaçla Ekim 2008 ve Ağustos 2009 ayları arasında Çanakkale Boğazı’nda ığrıp ile örneklenen, toplam boyları (TB) 20 – 183 mm arasında olan 112 adet genç çipura bireylerinin mide içerikleri incelenmiştir. Genç çipura bireylerinin besin tercihine bakıldığında genel olarak crustacea (%IRI = 95.1), foraminifera (%IRI = 2.4) ve annelida (%IRI = 1.03) türleri ile beslendikleri belirlenmiştir. Mide içerikleri mevsimsel olarak karşılaştırılmış ve mevsimlere göre mide içeriklerinin birbirinden önemli derecede farklı olduğu (ANOSİM; R = 0.2445, P < 0.05), tür ve miktar bakımından mide içeriği en zengin mevsimin ise ilkbahar olduğu saptanmıştır
