Abstract

This study was conducted to determine crabs and molluscs species in the Turkey's Black Sea waters (around Rize). A total of 146 sampling was conducted monthly between December 2012 and November 2013 with an experimental beam trawl with a 15 mm cod-end mesh size. A total of 5 crab species (Eriphia verrucosa, Pachygrapsus marmoratus, Macropodia longirostris, Carsinus aestuarii, Liocarcinus depurator, Polybius navigator and Xantho poressa) belonging to 5 families (Portunidae, Eriphiidae, Xanthidae, Grapsidae, and Inachidae) and a total of 8 mollusc species: 5 species belonging to the Bivalvia class (Scapharca inaequivalvis, Mytilus galloprovincialis, Donax trunculus, Chamelea gallina, Pitar rudis) and 3 species belonging to Gastropoda class (Rapana venosa, Nassarius reticulatus, Gibbula sp.) were determined.
